West Coast Syrah

Russell told the story of John Westerhold drying the vines with a leaf-blower just before harvest (much like how Petrus uses a helicopter…) as a part of his acceptance speech at HdR

But did JOHN get to speak? [soap.gif] [soap.gif] [soap.gif]

Just a guess here, but John prefers to have Russell do the talking.

A little late to the party, but Ed Kurtzman makes an excellent syrah under his Sandler label.
$20 with free shipping.

Thanks for the tip, Scott. I faxed in an order for a few bottles. No indication on the website, but I wonder if they are sold out (yet)?

Maybe it’s just my limited radar, but Bennett Valey seems to be a hot spot for Syrah.

That’s what I think, too.

Copain and Lagier Meredith are my biggest holdings without my wife’s name on the label. I replaced Lewis with Betz about 2 years ago in my regular purchasing. To me close styles but Betz was better and cheaper. If you like that style I’d suggest Leal also, which is about 1/3-1/2 the price.
