Wine Shop Recommendations - Local

In Los Angeles and San Francisco, I have already seen two references to K&L Wine Merchants, and I would agree. I live in SOMA, and I’m a regular at their 4th Street location.

A favorite Boston shop is the UrbanGrape with both a South End location but also one out a bit in ChestnutHill (around the corner from a Shake Shack…). Great selection and knowledgeable staff, though prices are not the cheapest.

I need a good wine shop recommendation in Chicago’s near north side neighborhood ( or close ).

Can always get something from HDH and go by to pick it up…also has to be some Binny’s around where you are…

I’ll leave the rest up to some locals to hopefully direct you if those don’t work or you’d like some more options.

In omaha I would head you to a small shop simply called The Winery. Decent domestic selections and the largest french, Italian, and German sections in town. Spirit World an Cork Screw are two others, but generally offer more pedestrian selections.

Olympia WA. There might be more but these are the ones I know about and go to. All of these do wine tastings.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Specialize in Bdx but seeing more and more from Burgundy, Italy. Domestic selection is getting better.

Been to Wally’s when in LA - nice selection of amaro’s.

When in Vegas/Henderson area:

Khoury’s Fine Wine & Beer
9915 S. Eastern Ave #110
Las Vegas, NV 89183

They have a 8 wines available by the glass and 11 beers on tap in the lounge area. Issa and Nura are great proprietors, and they have free beer tasting on Wednesdays and Wine tastings on Thursdays, with a local food truck offering tasty tidbits for sale.

In Québec:

Also try Arroyo Vino on the way up to Las Campanas, High end but great selection. If you don’t mind the drive Kokoman in Pojuaque has a large selection and good prices. Looks like a big barn though.

Specs on Smith downtown is still the best place to go in Houston.

Recommend Bird Rock wines on La Jolla Village Blvd in La Jolla. Nice guy, good selection and prices. Don’t live here just visiting.

Ball Square fine wines: great selection of smaller production wines from France, Italy, and Spain. Some US as well but particularly good for EU wines

Woodland Hills Wine Co in LA.

I’m not sure my ‘local’ is of much use, but just south of Norwich are:

Imperial Wine, Bungay (town centre), Suffolk http://www.imperialwine.co.uk who specialise (as you might guess from the name) in large formats. Slightly eclectic selection, and plenty to appeal to AFWE, with less at the plush end of the scale.

and

Big Red Wine company http://www.bigredwine.co.uk run by someone who was an enthusiastic Southern Rhone fan, but who has more recently discovered Piemonte, via a Danish forumite. Without bricks and mortar, and by self-importing, the prices are very good indeed.

Unfortunately Wattisfield wines has now closed, the proprietor Shami Gill being more of a wine geek than most forumites [wow.gif] . His selection was wonderfully eclectic and I miss it.

Anyone have a recommendation in Huntington Beach? Traveling with the kids (Disneyland), so I need to stick pretty close to HB.
