The problem I pointed out with the '12 Chapelle wasn’t what it lacked; it was what it had in excess, which was pretty much everything. It was not a lesser imitation of the grand vin; it was Monbousquet. Maybe a lesser version of Monbousquet. Alcohol, wood, heat, jammy fruit . . . just a clownish wine.
