Terra de Promissio is in the spring release. Bucher is somewhat typical for Bucher with lots of earthy elements. Weir is awesome this year. One of my favorites of the release. And yes, we make a boatload of different wines. There are many good reasons for doing it this way, but as the saying goes, no one needs to know how the sausage is made. Enjoy!
Mine was only $2,180 for my full allocation.
I have been a long time buyer, just more selective the past few years and I often pass on the single vineyard Fall (is it Fall?) offering.
I’ve never had any of their wines but received the email after a friend suggested I join. I generally dislike buying blindly but is there a consensus on what would be a “good start?”
Not nearly as experienced with Williams Selyem as some others here, but based on your buying blind comment, I’d suggest passing this time around and buying the appellation wines in the winter. Fewer options and easier on the wallet to grab a couple to see if you like their style.
Winemaker Jeff Mangahas is extremely talented and can be trusted with Pinot, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. W-S controls fruit from some of California’s best vineyards. The appellation wines (Spring release) are excellent.
My focus has been on the Zins, and Pinots and Chards from Allen and Coastlands Vineyards. W-S is not inexpensive, but the wines (pretty much across the board) are very worthy.
I visited them earlier this year and had some of the wines in this release. The 2018 Allen Pinot Noir was great. The Rochioli and WS Estate are always promising.
