Maybach morning

Ordered the cabs, no chardonnay for me

Then dropped Scarecrow a note that they can remove me from their mailing list. Maybach is my only $100+ nap cab now and I'm sticking with it

1 Scarecrow >=< 2 Maybachs? ... everything is relative ..., but if I had to make a choice, I probably would have to go with the 2 Maybachs

I wimped out and only took 2 of 4 Cabs and left everything else. I've spent most of my spring wine budget on pinot already and am saving the remainder for some '09 Burgs.

I still have some choices to make, but I feel, like Tim, that this might be the only $100+ Napa wine that I'll buy this year

The Chards are still sitting there staring at me. I realize these are from the same vineyard as Rivers Marie, but can anyone offer more insight, i.e., are they different from RM and are they worth the premium at $78/bottle plus shipping? Price seems high when the RM is priced much lower.
I too would like some feedback on Bob's question, some comprative comments would be appreciated, too.

I split my 4 with someone else and then had the stupid-ass idea to wish list 2 more bottles last night. I'm really hoping that it's not granted. Honestly just pissing money away on wine... literally and figuratively.

Small rant here. I just looked at my 2 invoices, the one for 4 bottles, and the new one for 6.

The shipping charge for 4 bottles was $48, which is a pretty hefty $12 per.

The shipping charge for 6 bottles is 84!! That means that bottles 5 and 6 are costing me $18 each to ship.

I don't get it. [scratch.gif]

The website talks about 2 shipping options, ground and 2nd day air. There was no ground option provided in the dropdown box. I asked them in the comments section to please ship my order via ground. The $12/btl charge is [head-bang.gif] rolleyes [scratch.gif] [shock.gif]

I did send Chris an email asking about the shipping charges.

I also requested a ground shipping option.

I've heard nothing but kudos on their customer service, so we'll see.

Hi Bud
Working on the weird shipping charges for quantities greater than 4 bottles.
We didn't have a category for 6 bottle shipping, and so 2x ship charges were added to 4x charges.
I will credit accounts for difference and resend invoices. Probably be today or tomorrow.

As far as Ground to East Coast, or other than CA, OR, WA, it's too risky right now...
every hundred miles or so, there seems to be a different climate.
(We have snow on the ground here north of Frisco this morning...)
And since we want to ship out on Monday/Tuesday... it'll have to be 2-day.

Thanks
Chris

Thanks for paying attention on the shipping front and seeing what you can do - hopefully it is understandable that customers find it frustrating to see $10 per bottle shipping charges more and more frequently from wineries but "only" $60-75 2nd day air charges for a full case from nearby retailers and ground shipping that works well during certain times of the year for a bit more than 1/2 that. By the way, to the midwest like Chicago, Monday ground shipments arrive on Fridays and typically work well during the month of March ...in fact I just received a ground shipment from a winery a week ago and everything arrived in perfect shape and Rivers Marie just arrived yesterday by ground in perfect condition at $36 for a solid case.

Agreed on Ground shipping. It's fine except in heat or EXTREME cold. I've received several ground shipments recently with no problems at all, and the savings really add up when you have a lot of wine shipped.
+99 I see no reason ground shipping should not be an option. I have had zero issues with ground shipments in March.

Got both an email early in the week and on Wed an automated call from Fedex....don't recall getting a call on prior deliveries through Fedex (have a handful of times on UPS winery shipments but rare)....cannot fault them on the heads-up even if it didn't specify which winery.

Seo, are you suggesting that I can drink this next year?
Havent popped an 07 0r 08. I think the 06 is still shut down to an extent (despite some glowing reviews from palates I trust). I'm waiting for Mike P. or Tex to pop an 08 and give this a whirl and report back. That being said, if you're ever in OC, give me a shout an we'll pop one of my 08s.
