2007 Lemelson Vineyards Thea's Selection Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

Tasted over two days. Bought on sale for $20. There is a mountain of this wine at Esquin in Seattle right now. A great example of when critics foolishly pan an entire region and vintage of how the consumer can benefit and I’m certain the producer takes some lumps.

Beautiful light garnet core with a pretty clear rim. Classic Oregon Pinot appearance.

Day 1- nose showed red raspberry and savory mushroom notes. The palate opened with green earthy tones and wonerfully refreshing acidity. Soft tannins led to a lovely lingering earthy finish on this medium bodied beauty.

Day 2- the nose has really opened into more cherry and thyme. The mouthfeel is just amazing with sonata cherry and some serious grip. The finish is just tart red fruit everywhere.

This wine rocks. There were some green earthy notes on day 1, but I’d hardly call it vegetal or thin. If this is on closeout in your area, stock up!

Thanks for posting, Anthony. I took a flyer on a bunch of this recently, based on Josh Raynolds’ tasting notes. Glad to have another data point.
