I turn 65 next week and have been flip-flopping whether to open a 1996 Bollinger RD (almost 20 now) or 1998 Krug. Getting tired of flipping.
If it was you, which would you open??
Thanks!

The Bollinger!
easy answer: both.
I’m with Alan.
Make it an all day celebration. Have one with lunch and the other with dinner.
Easy, both and do a side by side tasting
If only one: Bollinger RD.
It will show more aged nuances … more drinking pleasure!
I agree with everyone: Both would be great, but if you’re only opening one, I would choose the Bollinger. A recent bottle of 98 Krug was delicious but barely showing any signs of maturity. Last year’s bottle of 96 Bollinger R.D. was appreciably mature.
Also, if I wanted to save one of these two for a future celebration, I think the 98 Krug has a longer life ahead of it.
I agree with what Nowell has said - the 98 Krug is going to continue to age well while the Bollinger RD is not going to get any better. All of that said, the 98 Krug is the better wine today and tomorrow. I’d choose the 98 Krug for the birthday celebration and open the 96 Bollinger RD soon for a different and less “cool” event.
What Brad wrote!
I’m with Brad! Open the Krug. The 96 Bollinger will be good but the 98 Krug is the perfect special ocassion wine. Or like others stated open both but drink the Krug first.
