Half a mile away near the intersection of Culver and Sepulveda. With very easy freeway access if driving on the 405 is easy!
Just be glad it isn’t painted yellow.
And only two miles from LA Wine Company, a place I’ve always loved stopping off at.
Oh crap, that’s gonna sting
Convenient stop on the way to dinner at Dear John’s or Hatchett Hall, or lunch at Maple Block Meat Co.
A very smart company that did a lot of research before deciding on this location. And I agree that it is going to sting many and it’s gonna be awesome for those on the west side.
Also, Thatcher’s Wines is opening a store soon in Brentwood, 5 miles up the 405. Among Wine House, Thatcher’s, K&L, LA Wine Co, Wally’s, Lincoln, and Sage, the Westside will soon have multiple good local shopping options.
FYI: LA Wine Co. permanently closed
They had a good run, indeed. Opened in time for the '82 Bordeaux craze. They had a great business plan: price to sell as much as possible with 30 days of delivery so as to be able to pay wholesalers for those wines from sale proceeds.
Another restaurant worth visiting just two blocks away is Metro Cafe.
My guess is that this was a major reason they decided to move in where they did . . .
Cheers
Oh Momma, that would be freakin heaven!!!
they did. Guy named Jeff who worked there taught me a lot. This was late 84 and early 1985. Bought my first case of wine from him—82 Dunn Howell Mtn, $12.50 a bottle. My hand was shaking as I wrote the check, so I steadied it with my other hand. One day Jeff wasn’t there. Heard he was running his own side business out the back—with their wine—though I was totally unaware—and he was fired.
My work is moving around the corner from Flatiron Wine. Dangerous indeed. My wife will b happy with the inevitable large increase of riesling purchases.
