An interesting wine forum comparison.

I just noticed that the Right Honorable member from the left coast, Mr. Buzzini, posted his poll on how many bottles of SQN do you own both here and on eBob. A comparison of the results is interesting.

On eBob 84 people answered and here 239 answered. For reasons I do not understand, the option “zero” was not offered on eBob, while here it was offered and 125 people responded zero. If someone can explain to me how to post data from Excel or a Word table here so it does not look like crap, I will post the comparative data in this post, but I can’t seem to get it to work and still be readable.

Hi Jay
One easy way is to get the comparison looking as you want, then use the ‘snipping tool’ in windows accessories to copy paste as a picture.

Another way:

In Excel, you can select specific cells and PDF them: Select the cells you want to show us. Under the Page Layout tab of the toolbar, go to the Print Area button. Click on Print Area, then Select Print Area.

Then go to the File menu on the main toolbar, choose Save & Send and use the Create PDF/XPS option. Excel will then make a PDF of the selected cells that you can save.

But not that I have it as a pdf AND a snip, how do I get it into a post? When I use the upload attachment function it says I have not downloaded yet aftre I have clicked all the function and I am ready to post.

Steps

  • create a reply
  • click on the upload attachment tab
  • browse to the saved file on your pc / laptop
  • click on the file to select it and hit the open button
  • You’ll now see the file location in the filename box
  • Hit ‘Add the file’ and you’ll see a new box appear below your text called ‘posted attachments’
  • hit the submit button
    Capture new.PNG

The data:
Book1.pdf (97 KB)

Book1.pdf (97 KB)

Gee, this is fun. Fail, fail, fail, fail and fail. Once more into the breach:
Book1.pdf (97 KB)

How is 13/239 = 11.4%?

Common core Rick.

Use 114 as the denominator. The “zero” option wasn’t offered on the other forum, so those answers are excluded in the percentage comparison.

Looks like WBers are heavier i the 1-10 category, and eBobers in the 20-200 range. I suppose there are crazier things to collect.

Apart from the fact that the eBob version doesn’t allow you to respond with zero, the distributions look pretty similar to me – with spikes in the 1-10, 21-40, 61-100, very few reporting over 100 save for a lump in the 350+ category on both sites.

Hi Jay
Not a fail - you’re doing it right but the file is probably bigger than the limit Todd has to show pre-opened inside the thread. We can open the file.

Hopefully this shows Jay’s data as a .png file is usually smaller.
(Note to Jay - I just used the snipping tool on your pdf and selected the text & saved the snip locally)

Whilst my initial reaction was "350+ bottles of SINGLE wine [wow.gif] " I suppose there are investors / wine buying addicts at play.

One word of caution in the data - I suspect a healthy minority of voters would have voted on both forums. This might make the data seem more similar.

Undoubtedly. But we can’t tell who.

Assuming that people who had no SQN did not respond on eBob (i.e., they didn’t select 1-10), that’s 84 owners of SQN on eBob versus 114 owners on WB.

Do you think there is that much of an overlap? If so, I’d say that the overlap among SQN owners is higher than among WBers in general. I doubt there are many people in the AFWE camp who are still on eBob.

I think I joke answered that I had 10,000 bottles.

Which one was posted first?

You contaminator of data!

Luckily, neither poll calculated averages.
