arranging and sorting empty bottles

My wife is a photographer and she tries to capture people in an environment that defines them in some way. Whoever took these photos certainly has done that with you. Bravo!

Fun post. Thanks for sharing!

Nice, I used to have 50 or so empties, only a couple survived the move east…

+1
great post F

great post, great photos. Thanks for sharing

Oh my goodness - this is wonderful! First we had Food Porn, then Steak Porn and now Empty Wine Bottle Porn!

Looking at your photos again, François, I’m struck by how happy you are. Surrounded by so many wonderful memories! A tribute to a long and eventful life. Santé!

I’m addicted to the show Hoarders. Very sorry for your wife. At least she gets to drink something good along the way though.

This looks like an airplane hanger! I have about 12 ‘sentimental’ empties. Currently in the middle of pouring out remainders and recycling a couple hundred bottles, but I photograph the labels (most of them). Just looking back I thought you could combine this with someone who loves toy trains, lay some track in the rows

I love the photos.

Wonderful. But where do you store these 12,000 empty bottles?

I’m pretty sure that I am your illegitimate son François, or should I say mon père?

Had Rudy ever try to buddy up to you? neener

Bravo!

It is sad that Rudy and others have so spoiled things that this needs to be clarified, but that is the world we live in now.

I wasn’t going to open this thread because the header seemed like it was from a redneck barfly. Glad I changed my mind. That is quite a fitting visual statement of a hard core, lucky wine lover. It’s like a museum. I’d be happy to drink just one of those wines, never mind 12,000. If you had any Egyptian in your blood, you could fill a catacomb and take them with you.

That is fantastic! I admit though, I would be very tempted to wreak havoc with a bowling ball.

Can’t wait to buy the book! Great stuff Francois!

So…where’s a photo of the corks?

Warren,
I have kept hundreds and hundreds corks. If I have time I will show pictures.

To all,
Thank you for your nice words.

To have an idea about what I could tell in my book, I have calculated which wines were the oldest that I have drunk, and I have stopped at 1982 :

The millesimes that I drunk more than 150 times are :
1959 247
1947 204
1961 193
1955 176
1982 176
1964 167
1929 155
1966 152
For 1966 it is due to the fact that it is the year of my wedding.

Fantastic François!

Were both of the 1811’s from d’Yquem?
