Magnum (1.5L) 2018 Sandar & Hem Mindego Ridge Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz
About Mindego Ridge
Eight miles inland from the Pacific Ocean atop a ridge of fractured Purisima Shale lies the Mindego Ridge Vineyard. Pinot Noir is at home here on steep, southern facing slopes benefiting from a heavily marine-influenced climate, producing wines of intense minerality, complexity, and character.
Cellartracker Notes
KLEZMAN WROTE:
February 20, 2023 - This was excellent. Everything I like in SCM Pinot - red fruit, medium body, lots of earth and complexity. Nice at the BD price.
GLOU.SF LIKES THIS WINE:
93 points
November 2, 2020 - Much darker than the regular SCM Pinot with dark cherries and allspice on the nose. Quite complex and deep. Relatively tannic with great acidity and flavors of cherries and blood orange on the palate. Quite long on the finish. Very pretty wine that has the structure and acidity to age well. 92-93+
SEANWSMITHM3 LIKES THIS WINE:
July 16, 2020 - Bright strawberry, cherry and rhubarb on the nose and palate. Medium concentration in the glass. This wine is driven by crunchy red fruit and great acidity. The tannins are soft and fine. Nice austerity and purity of fruit. Best wine I have had from this site from any producer. A really nice example of a bright Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir. Rhys and Mount Eden lovers should take note and consider.
