I received a letter from my storage facility and they’re going to double their prices so I’m looking to down size my collection. Where is the best place to “legally” sell wine? I’m looking to off load 10-12 cases anywhere from $30 to $120 bottles.
For that price range your best bet would be Winebid.
Commerce corner!
Don’t need license for that? I’m in Virginia
Commerce corner is where we sell each other olive oil. If you’re not into that, Winebid is prob your best bet.
I think the cutoff on WineBid is a value of $35 pb.
Nah they have cheaper bottles on there. I think someone was saying they upped their minimum bottle price to $40, but then changed it so their minimum fee was $8 on a bottle.
Check with Jason at Spectrum Wine. He might give you a price for the lot.
How does wine bid work? Do they buy the lot of just auction it for you?
Do they cover the shipping cost to their wear house in NJ?
Generally speaking, you should expect to pay for the cost of shipping, but I think Winebid waives it during the summer. Worth reaching out to them directly.
Given your price points, I would agree that Spectrum or Winebid are the best places for your wines.
They sent me an appraisal but they didn’t give me an estimate for shipping. I also need to order foam packaging boxes which won’t be cheap.
1000% agree on WineBid. And i will say that with the volume and price points that you mentioned, you will probably be hard pressed to find a company that will cover your shipping costs.
Good luck and i hope you get top dollar!
Not sure what you are expecting. You are selling a few cases of daily drinkers. Probably better value just to drink them faster or find someone local to buy the lot.
Would it be possible to list your wines for sale at your storage facility? My facility has a bulletin board on the wall where folks list wines for sale and also In Search Of. That may be your best bet if you can find someone local who may want it.
I’m not sure you need to order shippers. They will probably tell you to drop it off locally somewhere.
Throw the top priced 3-4 cases on Commerce Corner for a week and see how it goes? The $75 to $120 level bottles should do well…
Other option is to take a weekend ride up to N.J. and drop off at Winebid. Hit some great Pizza spots on the way!! Saved shipping should cover gas?
I had a friend who used Winebid to sell off some wines from an estate (in OH). Winebid came and picked up the wine.
It’s worth exploring
