I tried the 14 for the first time about a month ago and was blown away. Fabulous stuff. Outside my regular $ range for bubbly or I’d stock up. Slightly oxidative and yeasty goodness.
Nice gift!
Yikes! I have never paid that for a bottle of Champagne. This is not a bottle to be opened alone while cooking dinner here! I am just a beginner with Champagne, in terms of knowledge. I have had a fair amount, but have not studied it. It is an outlet for me as I work on my own Cabernet. Thanks, Dennis.
I have had wines from Prevost, but I doubt it was this one. I own a couple of bottles of Prevost 2013 La Closerie Extra Brut Les Beguines made from Pinot Meunier that cost me around $100 a couple of years ago.
Matty (Happy New Year, by the way), you know you can always ask me anything. If I know, I will tell you.
I just grabbed the bottle and no, no sign of vintage. Very loose foil - probably more hand-applied than by machine, is my guess. At fewer than 300 cases produced, that would be my guess. But I know nothing about Champagne production.
It is legally NV but I think if you look carefully you will find a lot number which tells you what base it is. It should be at the bottom of the back label and says e.g. LC12, which designates it as a 2012 base.
