Consumption in 2020

Mine was way up, although I don’t keep track of bottles. Trying to be (mostly) dry through March.

Up +36%.

We had many more dinners are home with more wine drinkers. My two sons were back from college in March through the summer, along with my then HS senior daughter. My dad passed away in February, so my step mom joined us frequently. We had wine with many of our dinners. We happily enjoyed a fair number of well-aged first-growth and grand crus Bordeaux and Burgundy.

My beer and whisky budget also increased accordingly.

Up 30%, but that’s on a nearly 100% increase from 2018!

2018 117
2019 208
2020 262

Interestingly, the price per bottle went up a little over 30% as well:

2018 117 $28.63/btl
2019 208 $28.05/btl
2020 262 $34.33/btl

Probably ~500 bottles.
My wife drinks a bottle a night no exceptions

CT makes it easy to check cellar consumption, but I do not record consumption outside of the cellar which is immense.

According to CT, my cellar consumption was the highest in the last 6 years by 2 bottles. Overall personal consumption had to be much less with 2 tasting groups shut down for 10 months and the other about 40% of the year.

Looking forward to making up the difference.

I just re-read one of the above posts and it refers to the price per bottle going up so I checked and mine went up $14.

Our group gatherings decreased in size and quantity this year, of course, and we could not dine out for many months. Yet, somehow. our consumption increased 18% in 2020. We consumed 381 bottles (a 56 bottle increase) but our average cost per bottle shrunk from $65 to $62.

Have one of you been raiding our cellar?

A little higher for 2020. I think if I were to drill down into this, March and April would be the big spike, then it came back down closer to normal.

2020 Consumed (194)
