Do you know an Heidsieck which is neither Charles, nor Monopole, nor Piper?

I have bought a few bottles of a Heidsieck which is not Charles, not Monopole, not Piper.
The indication is Compagnie Champenoise Successeurs
And curiously it makes reference to Cathédrale de Reims.
The capsule is an ordinary capsule with the word “champagne” only.

I drank it and it is not very complex, but it is absolutely agreeable. It has a nice maturity with a very active bubble.
I would say it is from the 60ies or 70ies

the cork broke when I wanted to turn it.

As there are some experts in champagnes, have you ever seen such bottles?

The founding date is correct for Heidsieck & Co. Monopole. Seems to be distinct from Piper and Chas. Heidsieck. Currently owned by Vranken-Pommery Monopole.

Florens Louis Heidsieck formed Heidiseck & Co. Monopole in 1785. Piper split off later when joined by Henri Piper in 1828 after Florens died. From what I understand, you have a bottle of Heidsieck & Co.

Yeah, and what Neal said and the link is $$

Thank you for the link.

The article does not mention the “Cie Champenoise Successeurs”.
From what I have read the split between Monopole and Charles is not clear.
I do not think that I have an answer, because of this Company Champenoise.

Concerning the bottles found under water I have acquired some of the 1907 Diamant Bleu, some Juglar and some Veuve Clicquot which are more probably from the period 1820 - 1840 than from the period around 1780.

As Diamant Bleu belongs to Monopole, the 1907 are Heisieck and Co Monopole.

All that belongs now to Vranken.

Diamant bleu has two forms :

and one older :

One, the 1985, has the diamond cutting of the glass and one, the 1964, has the blue color.

I have seen that the 1979 is like the 1985 and that the 1973 is the same as the 1964.

Why yes I do…Bill Heidsieck sits a few rows over here at work. Nice guy. Beer drinker.

Francois,

This bottle of champagne Heidsieck is intriguing. I cannot find a single image of any other bottle with a similar label, and hunted bottles of Heidsieck from the 1920s forward. All of the bottles I found specifically stated Heidsieck Monopole or Charles Heidsieck on the label.

As a side note, I had a 1985 Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie on the evening I proposed to my wife (In 2007). Lovely wine.

K John,
Like you I had never seen such a “Heidsieck” without an addition.
The Diamant Bleu for which I gave pictures has “Hiedsieck & Cie Monopole”.

So this is a mystery and the use of the Cathedrale of Rheims could indicate a special bottling.
But I had never seen “Cie Champenoise Successeurs”.

I will send the pictures to Vranken in order that they try to find.

I saw the Cathedral reference as well and ran a bunch of searches online to see if I could find a similar bottling or label. I found nothing. Not a single reference. Very curious!
