There are several tasting rooms downtown and around/in the Oxbow, most winery specific or joint wineries. None are the “big names in wine,” but have a variety of good wines. There are also several wine bars. Backroom Wines has scheduled events/tastings. 1313 Main St. is the newest go to wine bar for locals. Bounty Hunter has turned into a restaurant and doesn’t appear to be geared towards tasting anymore, but I haven’t been there in quite some time. A wine savvy group will have to be open to lesser known wines and make their own judgments.
Check their calendar of events.
If you wish, I will look up the names and links for all of the specific locations. I know Randy Mason and Bruce Ahnfeldt have tasting rooms at or adjacent to the Oxbow. Mason Sauvignon Blanc is excellent, if you prefer your S/B’s to have citrus and good acidity. Ahnfeldt makes a very good Merlot. I think both share tasting rooms with other wineries.

You want the Vintner’s Collective. Some good stuff poured in there… Melka, Ancien, Showket, Vinoce, and Buoncristiani to name but a few.
Robert Craig has a tasting room in Napa. Not very scenic (it is actually located in an industrial park) but the wines are pretty good.

The 2008 Robert Craig Affinity is really nice.
Delectus is also in the industrial district south of town.
We had a good time tasting a great variety at Bounty Hunter in August. Carpe Diem is fun wine bar too.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We now have more than enough information to figure things out!
