Read this article today from CNN Jordan Valinsky… and did a double take.
New York(CNN Business) Grey Poupon is doubling down on its hoity-toity image with a new white wine.
It’s introducing La Moutarde Vin, a limited-edition “celebration” of the white wine used in the mustard recipe. The wine, which is intended for “making lunch feel like a feast” according to a press release from Kraft Heinz (KHC), is now on sale for $30 for a standard bottle and includes a jar of Grey Poupon mustard.
“We’ve watched as leisurely lunches have been replaced by food delivery apps and deskside speed snacking,” said Danielle Coopersmith, brand manager for sandwich enhancers at Kraft Heinz, in the release. “Here at Grey Poupon, we want lunch to feel worthy of savoring again.”
I dunno, some mustard seed might go a long way towards salvaging these stirring-of-the-lees/fruit-hung-too-long/too-much-new-oak/too-much-residual-sugar/creamy/smarmy/thick/gooey/vanilla-milkshake Chardonnays.
It might even help some of the stainless steel Chardonnays.
God, it’s been forever since I crossed paths with a Chardonnay I wanted to swallow.
The article says it has viognier grapes from France and the bottle says Napa Valley.
Buttonwood did a hop infused sauv blanc and and the FDA disallowed them to put a vintage or even the varietal on it, yet this one has both.
