As someone that knows little about champagne, I found this article on grower champagne informative.
That piece does a nice job in delineating some key things.
That’s a great review. The next thing I’d recommend is this fun hand-illustrated guide, which @Frank_Murray_III recommended a while back.
That’s a really good suggestion Warren.
She’s no longer selling through the site, but if you reach out to her, she’s lovely and still has some copies.
One of the best books, ever.
It’s art, knowledge, entertainment, passion, creativity all smashed into a tiny package
I read it once a year. Makes me smile and keeps from getting too stumped when FMIII busts out some champagne trivia!
You guys sold me on it. Thank you!
Also, wonderful gifts for those with an inchoate interest in our obsession (which is why I reached out to her for x2 more!).
I lent mine to a friend because she’s flirting with sparklers.
I said “you have one week and then I want it back. I’m serious” LOL
Frank bought me one of those and I immediately bought a handful of other friends the same book (I think @Charlie_Carnes is the only one of them who actually read it, though)
I got 1 for me and 2 for gifts. The shop I chose only had 9, I felt guilty about getting any more.
From her main site, she provides links for other locations to purchase.
Here are a couple:
East Coast
West Coast
Be careful. I gradually evolved from Champagne flirt to Champagne promiscuous.
Yes I did!!!
The hand drawn Champagne book is nice and fun, but Peter Liem’s “Champagne” is the benchmark for books on Champagne (and maybe wine in general). I cannot recommend it enough.
Thanks for this! I have started ordering Champagne for my daughter (she and her mom regularly get together to enjoy a bottle or two) and have an order coming for her upcoming birthday. Will add this little book to the gift!
I bought a bunch of copies of that book on Frank’s recommendation and I give it to people for holiday gifts. It’s a lot of fun but well-researched.
I’ve found Flatiron’s website to be an excellent resource, in particular as a primer on Rhône Appellations.
