Ian D'agata's new Book on Barolo

Ian’s new book, Barolo Terroir, has been out for a few months. No much talk about it.

Anyone got it? thoughts?

I stayed away as I know I’ll probably buy too much wine if I get it

Partially joking but i am sure it will be an interesting book. Especially the Nebbiolo Rose section should be very interesting to follow.

Ian is one of those quiet, incredibly knowledgeable people. His scores tend to be conservative. .

Interesting. It appears that it’s self-published.

His grapes book is an invaluable reference.

Sadly, “Italy’s Native Wine Grape Terroirs” (2019) was very poorly produced by the University of California Press, which was getting out of the wine book business at the time. The book looked like it was published without any editing. The core of the book – 300 pages – isn’t covered in the table of contents, and there are far too many two-page spreads with only a single paragraph break.

Together, those make the content difficult to access.

Yes, I rather bounced off that book, having loved his ‘native wine grapes of Italy’ book. That poor support from the publisher perhaps reflecting on the book itself.

I thought D’agata’s book on Barolo would be THE book to get.

I have Masnaghetti’s Borolo MGA vol 1, a lot of maps to refer to, but not a book to read.

Any Barolo book recommendations?
