Last night’s dinner was a mixed green salad with a lemon juice-EVOO dressing, seasoned with granulated onion, granulated garlic, and Herbes de Provence; with a sliced beet placed atop. The salad was enjoyed with a 1987 Ridge Zinfandel Jimsomare - cork saturated a good 1/2 inch; nice berry fruit with adequate acidity, resolved tannins; with a nice fruity finish. Then we followed with cheeses, nuts and raisins for dessert. We had double cream Brie, aged Manchego, and the last of the harder cheese that Larry Archibald left. The cheeses were enjoyed with a 1987 Ridge Petite Sirah York Creek Devil’s Hill - fill just above the neck, cork colored a good, rough half inch; nice berry-currant fruit with adequate acidity and resolved tannins; with a medium long fruity finish. The Petite Sirah was very good with the cheeses.
