Must Buy People Behind the Wine!

Curious to try, sure! Buy blindly, no. Mugnier makes a white burgundy that’s not all that expensive and I don’t buy that either, lol.

To be fair, I think this question was obviously meant for new world producers, who are far less tied to vineyards than in the old world (and this is not in any way a value judgment). I don’t drink very much California wine at all, so my perspective is different; I love Mugnier and Fourrier, but would I want to drink their Oregon wines? I don’t know and am not sure I would; for example, I think Fourrier’s Chambolle isn’t nearly as good as his Gevrey already!

Also, old world winemakers who have new world projects tend to charge a premium. Roulot is making some nice wines at Bodegas Chacra, but the 2018 is already $100. That’s not cheap, even by white Burgundy standards, and to my palate, nowhere near as good. I’d much rather buy cases of…well, better not tell the rest of you :slight_smile:
