Are you wanting 2020 vintage because it’s a celebratory year? Well, I’d imagine some champagnes, barolos, burgundys, bordeauxs, etc. yet to be released will be good 2020 vintages. I may be wrong for thinking this, but I don’t think 2020 vintage wines that can be purchased RIGHT now are showing the best.
I accept that I’m most likely wrong since there easily could be California producers making 2020 wines that are big bold and can last 20 more years. I’m mostly thinking about wine regions that require 3 years of aging before current release of the wine.
Type of wine you are looking for.
Country, region, varietal, flavor profile, maybe some samples of wines you already like so we can base it off that. Cost per bottle. Good start with those info
The wines are for a family member who was born in 2020. Currently she likes everything I have shared with her
Country, region, varietal — US - Sonoma, Napa, Paso, France - Rhone, Italy - Tuscany and Piedmont, Portugal.
I am really open to anything in the $50-$500 range.
I love old CdP, Barolo, BdM. But it is a gift for a young person right now.
Personally, if I’d love a 2020 Latour, but there is a lot out there I think would be considered age worth. Napa had a good growing season for 2020, so I think anything high end from there would be fine. Bordeaux had a good 2020 year, but lower yield. Your heart seems to be in the right place and I think and of those you listed would be 100% fine by 2041 on their 21st birthday.
If you have a local wine shop go there and maybe see what they have and ask them that question… then come back here and post their suggestions and we’ll give them a thumbs up or down
Quick things that comes to mind
Gaja, sassicaia, heitz marthas vineyard, allemand, soldera, bernard faurie, sloan, vhr, opus one (some ppl like it, some thinks it is overrated)
The podcast Somm and Sommer love that wine. Their tastes is a bit strange for me. I don’t agree with a lot of their recs, but I still listen to because there aren’t many wine podcasts and work is slow.
