SE Mailing List Invited to Join Bonneau du MartrayList

I just received the email. It looks to be a one time offer (“we anticipate that it will be the only time we can secure your place on the list”). Allocation offers will come out in May (through Bonneau du Martray’s U.S. import company). No indications on extent of allocations or pricing.

Strange. We’ve never had a problem getting Bonneau du Martray, and we’re not exactly a huge Burgundy account. I see perceived/contrived exclusivity around the corner. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

WOOT you’d be first in line for over priced allocations for a significant premox offender!!!

This will be sad. The wine is terrific.
There is a fair amount of it too since they are one of the largest landowners in that area.

They just sent out “allocations”, I got 1 of each:

2015 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne
Grand Cru Chardonnay 750ml 3-Pack
$585 per 3-Pack (You may wish for an additional 3-pack.)

1994 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne
Grand Cru Chardonnay 750ml 3-Pack
$900 per 3-Pack

Also a 3 pack of grand cru pinot $585.

No. Thanks.

Taking advantage of potentially non burgundy drinkers by over pricing a wine that can be found for cheaper in better vintages. But you get the pleasure of buy a 3 pack. lol

Zachy’s is selling the '15 CC for $170 - or $510 for a 3 pack.

I imagine the price will fall a bit once more is in the market (maybe more deals via auction)

The '94 can be had from $100 to $225. Not a “safe” as buying direct from the domaine but still dramatically cheaper.

As others have said, just trying to snag some customers and get a bit of $ out/back of the purchase of the domaine.

That said, easy pass.

No '96s? [snort.gif]

Definitely NOT “mailing lister” pricing…pass!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is SE?

[Update: I have been informed privately that it is Screaming Eagle – not an obvious connection in my mind. I was searching for some reason that Sylvia Esmonin would be tied to BdM.

Carry on!]

Pardon my ignorance, but where are you seeing these lower prices? I see Zachy’s is currently selling it for $219/bottle pre-arrival. I wanted to start to break into more Burgundian chards (been mostly a California guy up to this point) and this seemed like a relatively easy way to do it.

Because it’s not officially released yet.

Go buy the 2014 it’s a WAY better vintage and WAY cheaper.

That was the $ when I was looking on WS when I originally posted. But as FU said…'14’s.
