Sub $22 Beaujolais

This used to an absolute gem field, most every producer had an option. It isn’t necessarily the case any more.
Even
Lapierre’s gulp wine Raisins Gaulois is even approaching.

When I go into local retailers I see stuff
there must be producers still doing the classic bojo profile for. ~$15-20?

Who is still doing something serious in the classic style?
I just bought some Terre Doree and Vissoux.
I have some other favorites but would love to be enlightened on yours!

Negative points for the post that says for $24 you could get…

Sub-22!

How about Domaine des Billards Saint Amour which a bunch of the NJ discount stores have just under $20/btl whereas elsewhere it’s above.

My wife said she’s worth it, so she moved the goalposts and bought :joy:
Uh-oh,
Tell me there’s no barnyard.

Alex Foillard 2023 Beaujolais Village 16,50€

Coincidentally, I was looking back on some old receipts and my Thivin CdB was $18 in 2017.
Not exactly one of those “I used to buy Ridge Montebello for a nickel” anecdotes, but still that’s more of a $30 wine these days.

Yes Thivin was always one of my go to, but pricing has seen a steady rise unfortunately.

Last time I checked, there is a horse on the label.

Lucien Lardy. Should be readily available and sub $20
Jean Marc Burgaud has some cuvees that should hit sub $22

Just bought the last bottles of 22 Les Delys at 23€, does that qualify?

But tonque out of cheek, i.e. Bouland can be found sub 20€ in europe

Just saw that 2023 Fleurie Jean Foillard is now $72 (Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant - Wine Shop)

Have beautiful Dutraive the other day. It was $36, but great value at that price point.

Garagiste frequently has Cru Beaujolais for $20ish.
It’s the one thing that I consistently buy from them.

that is just the kermit tax. easy to find it ~$40 from direct importers and pretty much near $30 on sale. whwc blew out the 21 a couple months back for like $60 a mag.

ah phew. I was worried I really was out of touch with beaujo pricing.

No, that’s just Kermit Lynch’s aspirational pricing which is severely out of touch with reality.

I like Chermette – $15-25 depending on the shop.
