I need another dozen Burg glasses to add to my Riedel Vinum (17 left) which are not all that dishwasher friendly. Life is too short for me to bother washing glasses by hand. While Zalto may be the best; I’d prefer a combination of: durable, shaped well (I use for both white & red Burgs) and affordably priced, to be used for dinner parties.
The Schotts are nice and sturdy but I am also a fan of the Riedel line they sell at Target.
Much more durable than the Vinum line and with a slightly more elegant shape than the Schotts IMO, albeit thicker glass. Unfortunately they appear to have discontinued the model with the flaired lip that echoed the Riedel Sommelier Burgundy shape.
I got a kick out of the Spiegelau-Hybrid as presented on Amazon: “The class of glass”. Would someone please fill me in on those flared Burgundy stemware? I think the flare ruins the nose.
Restaurant series Reidel Burg glasses. Same shape as the vinum, non-leaded glass, go in the dishwasher. 7-8$ a stem if I remember. I think they are also coming out with a flared lip Oregon pinot glass in the same series next month or so.
I try to remove the glass type variable so this is the only glass I use for all wines. It’s a bit intense over 15% but otherwise it helps me isolate the aromas well.
