…In my Wife’s kitchen.

She say’s it’s only for pies though her pie crust recipe is passed down over generations. She simply keeps it in the book. I get a chuckle every time I see it come out of hiding. Cutting edge stuff right here! 1961 copyright. 1st Edition 2nd Printing!

Earlier this year we bought an older house as a rental property. We found this left in the back of an upper cabinet in the kitchen



Latest copyright date is 1962. Says it’s the 3rd printing.

These were really meant to be an all-in-one book for the housewife. Not just recipes - there are sections on techniques, organizing a proper pantry, general thoughts on meal planning, tables settings for different types of meals and advice on how to best arrange a buffet, etc.

Yes, and probably some savory Jello mold recipes - lima beans and carrots in lime Jello anyone?

We used that book a lot when we got married 48 years ago! I should add that there isn’t room for it on the kitchen bookshelf, though I think we use it occasionally for baking pies.

No snickering here: my wife still has that…. And she makes the best bakery this side of the afterlife.
