TN: 2006 Viña Robles - Petite Sirah Jardine Vineyard (USA, CA, Central Coast, Paso Robles)

2006 Viña Robles Petite Sirah Jardine Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (6/9/2016)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over a couple of hours –

NOSE: smoky plum; ballpoint pen ink; underlying wash of school paste.

BODY: superfine particulate matter present; black-violet color of great depth; medium bodied.

TASTE: “fresh” — good acidity; medium-fine tannins still drying on the finish; plum; earthy – a touch bitter; medium-light oak; alc. not noticeable, but for a touch of warmth in the belly; hint of bell pepper; a bit weak on the back end; not complex, but it does taste good.

Wow, I can’t recall seeing a tasting note on Vina Robles on WB…and that school paste thing would turn me off

Brian I agree the wines are passable but not noteworthy. The tasting room and concert venue are outstanding though.

Yeah, the school paste thing was not too dandy. IIRC, this was the only wine poured at our tasting that wasn’t bad or boring. While it hasn’t fallen off a cliff or anything like that, time hasn’t unlocked any kind of magic here, either. So it goes … it was only $26.
