TN: 2011 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Cuvée Lopy

  • 2011 Domaine le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Cuvée Lopy - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras (4/13/2014)
En magnum. Fairly light weight for such a new wine and from a large bottle. The tannins are somewhat light with noticeable acid that’s balanced pretty well. The palate has cherries and flowers. It’s a very good, lightweight wine that I think is really for current consumption over the next 5 years. I don’t think it has the stuffing to go much farther. (87 pts.)

I’m still drinking the 2001’s and they are fresh and vibrant.

Fortunately for you Steve, 2001 was a much better year than 2011. 2011 was a decent vintage, but definitely not a blockbuster. I took a flyer on these magnums and they’re not going to disappoint, however I don’t think I’ll be keeping them around more than a couple of years.
