TN: 2017 Cambria Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay

Nice dry white wine here. Attractively combines both the mineral and fruit sides of Chardonnay. A bit of that vanilla/caramel/butterscotch (oak?) aftertaste is present also, but at a subtle level. Smooth mouthfeel with an ample acid skeleton. Above all, BALANCED with interesting and tasty flavors. Good choice to have on hand as an “any day” white wine. Unpretentious and over-delivers at $15.

great price re the wine, don’t remember seeing it that low in years…Remember it fondly but no recent experience…At $15, wd buy a case.

Jim the 15 was a real solid. They had it locally for around $17 but had a $3 rebate per bottle. Cambria makes some nice wines.

I had the Julie’s a number of times and just didn’t do it.

i’ll check out the Katherine’s

A trip down memory lane here, Jim. Back in the late 80s, a group of us used to slog up for the Vintner’s Festival in SBC every April. This is when Cambria was fairly new, having just been built. I’ve got some old photos of us there, but they’re paper photos because none of us had even cell phones at that time. I remember fondly the bottles of Julia’s and Katherine’s, the experience and memories of visiting there, along with Byron, Sanford (before they were sold) and a few others of those very early days.
