TN: 2017 Catherine et Claude Marechal Volnay

This is just so yummy (technical word I know ). It is mid weight, juicy, refined, exuding perfectly ripe dark cherries and florals. The palate is beautifully integrated and refined, no hard edges, just slippery black fruits. We often read about restaurant wines and restaurant vintages and to me this wine epitomises that. Delicious now, although still primary, with sufficient breadth and nuance to encourage another sip.

I’ve always loved their Chorey-les-Beaune, but haven’t seen it for several years.

Opened the 17 Savigny-Les-Beaune VV last night, it’s good but the Volnay is the one to look out for.

Claude is a very good winemaker and a top bloke.
