We did an inventory recently of the home cellar. Among the wines were two bottles of this.
I looked on Cellar Tracker where there were a couple of positive notes from people I don’t know, but that was about it. Has anybody ever tasted the wine?
There’s the regular SGN and then the Frederic Emile SGN. I’ve a bottle of each left, but haven’t had the Frederic Emile in almost 20 years. I remember it as very nice, not nearly as rich and sweet as most SGN.
I haven’t had the '89, but I have had the '83 twice. It’s a splendid wine with tons of botrytis. Not a featherweight nor particularly sweet.
Had the 83 a month or so ago. Now only off dry and would match many foods.
It should be arachnidly balanced …
I had a wonderful Trimbach Clos Ste-Hune VT 1989 at “Celler de Can Roca” in July 2005 (a 3 stars Michelin), quite cheaply charged, pairing these incredible tapas :
_- Croustillant de morue
- Croustillant d’olives noires
- Moralla Fregida
