What are the "top" ten wines in your cellar as rated by Cellartracker reviews?

Just curious. [cheers.gif]

Wow.
6 of the ten are Schrader. Along with a TBA I forgot I had from a producer I’ve never heard of, a Kracher, a Suduiraut and a Bellevue Mondotte.
None would be in my top ten.

I was surprised by mine too, Scott.

I’m sort of an outlier for many, many reasons - so I won’t even bother listing the wines. But the big surprise for me is that for 4 of the 10, I was the only one who gave it a score.

M@rk

Aw, c’mon! [wow.gif]

Are you sure you want to use CT reviews as the benchmark?
That is liable to show a lot of weird crowd sourcing quirks.

I generally avoid ‘how big is your penis’ threads, but I really don’t think that was what you were intending here.
I never use points, but here it seems is my list - fwiw:

2009 Huët Vouvray Cuvée Constance CT98
2008 Cameron Chardonnay Vintage Reserve CT97
2009 Huët Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Clos du Bourg CT95.6
2005 Huët Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Clos du Bourg CT95.5
2002 Huët Vouvray Cuvée Constance CT 95.3
2005 Huët Vouvray Cuvée Constance CT 95.1
2004 Thierry Allemand Cornas CT 95
2008 Rhys Pinot Noir Home Vineyard CT 95
2008 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot CT 95
2006 Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard CT 94.5

Apart from the Cameron, none of these are wines I would drink for many, many years - that part I did find interesting.
Alot of these I do expect to be in my top tier someday.
The Cameron is a total CT anomaly as while this is a very nice wine, there are exactly 2 reviews and they are both absurdly high.

Kim - where is your list?

The top-rated wine in my cellar is . . .
1985 Francesco Rinaldi e Figli Barolo Cannubbio!
2 reviews, 1 with points: Keith Levenberg 100 points!

After that, it’s a lot of SQN (which Keith probably gave 0 points to).

#4 is 1987 Avignonesi Vin Santo di Montepulciano. 2 reviews, both by Paul Baartman, both 98 points!

#10 is 1958 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo. Again 2 reviews, only 1 with points: Greg dal Piaz 97 points!

Jim - No, definitely not a “how big is your penis thread.” I just found my list quirky and was curious to see what others came up with. I put *'s next to the wines I’m most excited about.

Mine looked like this…

2006 Gonon St Joseph VV*
2009 Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spatlese #5 *
2000 Chateau Palmer
2005 Pinon Cuvée Botrytis *
2009 Clos des Lambrays *
2005 Clos des Papes
2005 Pontet Canet
2001 Cicala *
2007 Levet La Chavaroche*
2000 Montrose

By the way, I have Huet and Allemand envy as a result of your list!

Edited - Looked again, this time using John Gilman’s scores and found the list a whole lot less surprising - dominated by Burgs and my Clos Rougeards get a nice bump!

From the same person, and it looks like there are two different names for this wine in the database. The other one is also rated just twice by one person (92/93, which I would say is still a little high for this wine).

Very interesting and fwiw.

1 - 2005 Château d’Yquem; CT97.2
2 - 2007 Maybach Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Materium; CT97.2
3 - 2002 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select; CT96.4
4 - 2006 Alban Vineyards Syrah Reva Alban Estate Vineyard; CT96.1
5 - 2006 Alban Vineyards Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard; CT96
6 - 2005 Alban Vineyards Syrah Lorraine; CT96
7 - 2000 Château La Mission Haut-Brion; CT95.6
8 - 2000 Château Mouton Rothschild; CT95.6
9- 2007 Lewelling Cabernet Sauvignon Wight; CT95.5
10 - 2003 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon; CT 95.5

Out of curiosity, what is the highest rated wine in the CT database (with more than just 1-2 reviews…)?

2009 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard CT97
2009 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon RBS Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard CT96
2007 Lewelling Cabernet Sauvignon Wight CT95.5
2007 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon CT94.8
2008 Kapcsandy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard CT94.7
2007 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel CT94.7
2007 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel Panoplie CT94.7
2004 Clos Erasmus Priorat Laurel CT94.5
2001 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline CT94.2
2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery Cabernet Sauvignon (Grand Vin) State Lane Vineyard CT94.1
2007 Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Quet CT94.1

… not surprising, but that’s not what my own top 10 in my cellar would be.

1959 La Mission
2005 Lafite
1989 Haut Brion
1989 Petrus
1996 Bollinger VVF
1999 La Tache
2001 Yquem
2005 Haut Brion
2000 Cheval Blanc
2000 Ausone

Fun idea:
1997 Arcadian Chardonnay Bien Nacido (one score, and it’s pretty high)
2001 Domaine du Pegau CdP
2000 Domaine du Pegau CdP
1999 Louis Jadot Charmes Chambertin
2005 Mongeard Mugneret Echezeaux
2007 D’Angerville Volnay Champans
2005 Domaine du Martray Corton Charlemagne
2001 Louis Jadot Chambertin Clos de Beze
2002 Michel Gaunoux Corton Renardes
2006 Louis Jadot Vosne Romanee Beaux Monts

Interestingly, can’t say my scores contributed to these high CT scores. My scores, where i’ve put them, are lower than CT avg.

Mine are predominately French but one is skewed because of only one score.

2005 Ponsot Clos de la Roche
2002 Kuntzler Auslese Auction
2000 Margaux
1975 d’Yquem
2007 St Jean Combe des Fous Chateauneuf du Pape
2005 Jadot Bonne Mares
2005 Thibault Ligier Belair Chambolle Gruenchers ( a nice wine but only one score and it is a high one)
1994 Taylor
1989 d’Yquem
2001 Rieussec

These are not in exact order however. Just my top 10 CT scoring.

Cool idea indeed.
2005 Angelus
2005 Montrose
2004 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino
2007 Markus Molitor Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Auslese
2006 Tenuta Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa
2007 Fattoria Petrolo Galatrona Toscana IGT
2009 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese
2006 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Mazoyères-Chambertin
2005 Bodega Catena Zapata Nicolás Catena Zapata
2007 Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Silex

I have not tasted 4 out of those 10 wines as of yet…

I’ve never sorted this way. Here’s my list - no surprise to me to see it dominated by stickies in light of the fact that they always seem to win WOTN at offlines:

1998 Donnhoff Oberhuaser Brucke eiswein
1990 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Beerenauslese
2005 Grivot Richebourg
1989 Huet Cuvee Constance
1999 Donnhoff Oberhuaser Brucke eiswein
1982 La Mission Haut Brion
1994 Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal SGN
2002 Bachelet Charmes Chambertin
1998 Muller-Catoir Gimmeldinger Schlossel Rieslaner TBA
1985 Trimbach Clos Ste Hune

Now, when I sort by Tanzer (I figured his journal would cover a broader selection than Gilman’s), I get a very different result, much more dominated by burgundy:

1991 Ridge Monte Bello
2002 Grosset Polish Hill riesling
2005 JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr GKA
1988 Krug
1989 Climens
2005 Jadot Bonnes Mares
2005 Grivot Richebourg
2005 Bachelet Charmes Chambertin
2005 Jadot GC Clos St Jacques
2005 JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr auslese

now, sorting by Gilman:

1989 Huet Cuvee Constance
1990 Trimbach Clos Ste Hune
2002 Huet Clos de Bourg Moelleux 1ere Trie
2009 Huet Clos de Bourg Moelleux 1ere Trie
2009 Huet Le Mont Moelleux 1ere Trie
2009 Gouges NSG Les St Georges
2007 Donnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Kabinettt
2008 Huet Le Mont Moelleux 1ere Trie
2005 Mugneret Gibourg Ruchottes Chambertin
1989 Trimbach Clos Ste Hune VT

I can’t decide it that latter list shows more about john’s sweet tooth or mine!

Now, here’s something very interesting to me - when I sort by Burghound’s scores I see that the 2005 Grivot Richebourg again lands in the top ten - yet Gilman won’t even taste at Grivot, so little does he care for Grivot wines!

Sorted by CT:

2008 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard
2009 Saxum James Berry Vineyard
2008 Saxum Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard
2009 Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon To-Kalon Vineyard
2008 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
2009 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
2007 Saxum James Berry Vineyard
2008 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
2008 Myriad Cellars Syrah Las Madres Vineyard
2008 Saxum James Berry Vineyard

By Tanzer:

2007 Saxum James Berry Vineyard
2007 Saxum Broken Stones
2008 Saxum James Berry Vineyard
2008 Saxum Syrah Booker Vineyard
2006 Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT
2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Rochioli Riverblock
2007 Ojai Pinot Noir Solomon Hills Vineyard
2007 Ojai Pinot Noir Presidio Vineyard
2007 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve
2008 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Old Vines Summa
2007 Radio-Coteau Pinot Noir Terra Neuma

CT users clearly love the bigger Cab, and smaller producers like Realm and Myriad; my personal ratings are closer to the CT:

2007 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard
2005 Harlan Estate The Maiden
2008 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III
2008 Sojourn Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyard
2007 Rivers-Marie Cabernet Sauvignon
2007 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard
2007 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon
2007 Sojourn Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyard
2007 Sojourn Pinot Noir Demuth Vineyard Anderson Valley
2008 Alban Vineyards Syrah Patrina Alban Estate Vineyard
2007 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing

A key difference in my ratings is I have a lot of the rated wines that I have not opened and rated myself.

1863 Blandy Madeira Bual
1978 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino
1985 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Riserva Le Brunate
1971 Fiorano (Boncompagni Ludovisi) Vino da Tavola
1996 Romano Dal Forno Amarone della Valpolicella Vigneto Monte Lodoletta
1982 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Rocche di Castiglione Falletto
1970 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
1999 Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris Otin Fiorin
1989 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva Collina Rionda
2003 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage

Going further Gilman’s scores, which aren’t ordered quite correctly since his + scores don’t seem to be valued more than a regular number.

1978 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino
1978 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva Speciale Collina Rionda
1971 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
1996 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino
1964 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino
1961 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino
1999 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Riserva Monfortino

2005 Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin
2005 Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg Clos Vougeot

And finally Tanzer
