What’s your favorite bubbly for a party?

Holiday season is already in swing and wondering what people think is a great bubbly to serve at a party (or to enjoy any time of the year!).

My favorite over-performing bottle of bubbles is NV Louis Bouillot Crémant de Bourgogne Perle de Vigne. It usually retails around $12.99 and is a pretty decent Champagne knock-off with some nice toast and marzipan notes.

Without spending too much time considering the wine savvy or the quantity of the guests, which bubbly would you pick to serve at a party that’s relatively inexpensive and still something you really enjoy?

Thanks, Tammie

Gruet – regular or rose.

Also, I’ve not minded the Kirkland Signature Sonoma Sparkling NV I’ve seen lately at about $10.

I am with Gutting on this one.

A huge +1

Tissot Cremant du Jura for about $24

Funny you mnetioned that -we are having a holdiay open house tonight and we are serving Gruet.

Hate to keep singing the same refrain but I have to- Gruet. Plus its fun to say it is from New Mexico- IIRC near Elephant Butte Lake out in the middle of the desert south of Albuquerque.

That is where the bulk of their grapes come from, but the winery is in ABQ proper. I’ll be visiting in three weeks actually.

Allimant-Laugner Cremant d’Alsace Rose $16-18.

Gregg- Thx for that; I’ll get some today from Wine House…

Segura Viudas makes a very good Cava for the price- about $7-$8 per bottle. Both the Brut and Rose and good. This is normally a hit at parties and you can buy a case or two without breaking the bank. My girlfriend really likes this, so we drink it around the house quite a bit during the summer.

I tried Gruet for the first time (their blanc de noirs) and it was superb for the price. Very solid.
