This has been bouncing around the Whisky world for a while. My friends and I have concluded that the bottle is a fake. Bonhams is aware of the questions of authenticity and will be amending the catalog/withdrawing the bottle, if they haven’t done so already. Bonhams is being very careful… One scientist of note among us suggested to our friend, who is an employee of Bonhams, that Bonhams demand that all sellers agree to submission of a sample of any claimed pre-1945 whisky for isotopic analysis by mass spec at a lab of Bonham’s determination. “There is a clear finger print that discerns precisely before or after July 16, 1945 (the Trinity atomic bomb blast)…”

How so? This sounds interesting.

There are isotopes that were not distributed in nature before they started blowing up stuff REAL GOOD!
