Who are your top 3 small Champagne growers/ producers?

No questions, many small growers are excelling in producing top quality Champagne. Fortunately, there has been a recent increase in availability in the past couple of years and more new ones coming in. After touring the region a few months ago and drinking more and more of these bubblies, my top 3 currently for their wines across the board are Pierre Peters, Goutorbe and Camille Saves. Admittedly, there are many others working their way up my list. Who are your top 3?

Pierre Peters

Billiot
Vilmart
Camille-Saves

In the running:
P Bara
P Peters

Would like to try more Goutorbe.

I really trust most of Terry Thiese’s champagne portfolio of ‘farmer fizz’ which has a nice selection of small production champagne. Another that stands out for me is Tarlant, not only for how beautiful their champagnes drink, but for its history as well.

egly-ouriet
vilmart
H. Billiot

need to have more peters as I’ve only really had their BdB

Gimonnet
billiot
vilmart

P. Bara
Billiot
G. Charlemagne
Larmandier-Bernier
and, from what I have had, Morlet would be up there, too. Haven’t had enough of the Theise stuff to make a sound judgement.

Dhondt
Vilmart

Vilmart
Egly
Chiquet

I could pile on the Billiot, Vilmart, and P Peters train, but I want to throw this name out there:
Goutorbe.

The stuff I’ve consumed from Goutorbe over the past 6 months has been stunning.

you won’t be disappointed IMO

Yep!
H. Billiot
Vilmart
Pierre Peters

Props to Lallement, Jean Milan & Goutorbe

If I have to pick just 3 I’ll go with:
Vouette et Sorbee
Vilmart
Pierre Peters

Your taste in Champagne is clearly better than your taste in football clubs. neener

I’d go w/ Lallement, Vilmart & H. Billiot. I love Egly-Ouriet, but frankly their pricing has become too much for me…

+1

Now, do I age the last couple of bottles I own of the '02 SC or not… that is the question…

And I really need to pick up more of the Gaston Chique - in my opinion, it completely kicks the butt of Billecart-Salmon Rose

Pierre Moncuit (great BdB for the price)
Rene Collard (cool, aged, Pinot Meunier dominated offerings)
Tarlant (particularly the Brut Zero bottlings)

My three choices embodying different styles are:

Pierre Peters
Diebolt Vallois
Chiquet

+1 Dhondt

Post #20 before someone mentions Selosse? (the pricing is a bitch).

Vilmart, Goutorbe, Peters have all been great lately.
