I grew up with this stuff. A holiday tradition in many Wisconsin homes. The sharp cheddar was considered risky, almost exotic and the port wine infused spread was just plain risqué.
I had to order this mail order to get it to Colorado, but it takes me back to being 8 years old and my Mom letting me have wine in my cheese. Those were the days.
Rush Creek Reserve they certainly ain’t…but yeah, as a fellow Wisconsinite I’ll always have a special place in my heart for spreadable cheese; probably my fave:
I can’t get Merkt’s though I’ve had it and like it. I can find Kaukauna in Colorado, but that’s not the same. Seems drier.
Drive up I-94 from Chicago, and you will find heaven upon crossing the state border.
Omg, cheese spread/pub cheese is the BEST!!! Nobody in my house will go near it…which means more for me
I’m boycotting Wisconsin cheeses, brats and beer since 11/8/16.
And our Eagles play the Packers tonight.
Spread that cheese right over a burger. Yuuuuummmmy
Probably haven’t had this in 30 years but the picture certainly brings back fond memories.
My dad received a stoneware crock of this stuff around Christmas-time every year from a salesman in Wisconsin. Delicious. I’d love to find it again. Does anybody know if you can still get it in the crock?
