Xavier Vignon Arcane 'Le Fou'

My first bottle of a wine from this well-reviewed producer. A non-vintage wine.

Medium to dark ruby color. The aromas are plummy and earthy, with a hint of garrigue. The texture is intriguing, both rich and ripe but also vivacious, with notable acidity, especially notable for the 15% alcohol. There is a spicy note, hard to define, and some black cherry flavor. This is a very good wine but a little disjointed, with some sharp edges not expected in a wine with this body and breadth. Very good and improves down to the last sip. Rated 88.5, 2 - 4 points of improvement likely over the next 5+ years.

Perhaps well-reviewed, but I’ve been unimpressed with the wines I’ve tasted, and that alc% / disjointedness not a surprise. They seem very much to not be my style.

Last Bottle had this. They claimed it got 96 from JD. I think it is a decent wine for the money, but I can’t believe that score.
